The Mets’ romp of the Dodgers on Sunday afternoon had a defensive highlight in addition to the offensive fireworks put on by New York – a sixth inning triple play that snuffed out a potential Dodgers rally.
Matt Kemp hit a grounder to Eric Campbell at third, who threw to second baseman Daniel Murphy to force out Adrian Gonzalez, who fired the ball over to Lucas Duda at first to force out Kemp. Duda then threw home to Travis d’Arnaud, who proceeded to tag out an aggressive Yasiel Puig to complete the 5-4-3-2 triple play and end the Dodgers’ threat.
