What is it about old AL West stadiums, burst pipes and flooding? Normally, O.co Coliseum is the go-to stadium for such issues, but this time it is Angel Stadium’s turn.
Tough way to start day at stadium. Fire pipe break early morning led to flooding & damage on six levels. Clean up continues. #Angels

Ironically, the Angels are playing the A’s this weekend in Oakland. So while this won’t impact any games, it will give the two teams something to bond over in between, though that seems unlikely since the two squads will be battling it out for the AL West division lead.
Angel Stadium, which opened back in 1964, is now closed, possibly through Saturday. With owner Arte Moreno locked in protracted lease negotiations with the city of Anaheim, this incident could spur movement on settling the lease and getting Angel Stadium renovated or give Moreno an excuse to try and leave town, which he says he doesn’t want to do (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).
