J.P. Arencibia pitched on Wednesday night, and it was weird

J.P. Arencibia became the third (!!!!!) position player to take the hill for the Texas Rangers this year, following in the footsteps of Mitch Moreland fellow backstop Chris Gimenez. And boy, it was bizarre.

It’s worth noting that Gimenez was designated for assignment by the Rangers and assigned to AAA, while Moreland is on the 60-day DL following ankle surgery. That’s not good news for you, J.P.

Anyway, topped out at just 74.2 miles per hour on his fastball, and didn’t get one player to swing and miss during his scoreless inning. Gimenez topped out at 86.17 during his relief appearance in July, while Moreland actually hit 94.46 back in May.
