Yasiel Puig is a strong man. This is obvious if you’ve seen any number of his throws to nail runners at third from right field. But we got another reminder in Milwaukee on Friday night.
In the 7th inning, Puig tried to check his swing while facing the Brewers’ Zach Duke. Puig’s hands stopped. The bat did not, snapping at the handle and flying into the field of play.
Even if the bat was cracked, the amount of strength and torque in the swing required to break a bat at the handle with no contact with the baseball is pretty incredible.
