Another week of bombs is behind us. Some of the names are familiar, some are not. However, one thing is for sure – a couple of these blasts are truly majestic.
1. Oswaldo Arcia vs Andre Rienzo, 468 feet (August 3rd)
Arcia nearly hit this ball out of US Cellular Field. I don’t care where you’re playing, but when that happens, you know you’ve put a charge into a baseball.
2t. Miguel Cabrera vs Tyler Matzezk, 445 feet (August 2nd)
I love how the announcers undersold this homer by Cabrera before the damn thing carried over the center field wall and behind some of the shrubbery in the batter’s eye at Comerica.
2t. Michael McKenry vs Chris Rusin, 445 feet (August 6th)
Smashing a ball onto the concourse at Coors Field takes a lot of strength. McKenry was just a couple of feet from getting this ball there.
4. Carlos Gomez vs Ryan Vogelsong, 443 feet (August 6th)
Carlos Gomez, you’re gross. This homer reminded me of something we saw during the 2002 Home Run Derby at Miller Park.
5. Matt Holliday vs Zach Duke, 435 feet (August 3rd)
Half way up the grandstand in deep left center at Busch Stadium…woof. Holliday also pimped this homer a lot more than you’d expect from him.
