Mets game postponed due to Sharknado in ‘Sharknado 2’

Yes, MLB’s trade deadline is just a day away, making for one of the most exciting dates on the baseball calendar.

However, before the trade deadline comes one of the most anticipated events in recent pop culture history. I probably don’t even need to tell you what that is, but perhaps you’ve been so tuned in to baseball that you didn’t realize that Sharknado 2: The Second One premieres Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on Syfy.

If you’re wondering why we’re mentioning this at The Outside Corner, rather than Bloguin’s pop culture blog, The AP Party, it’s because one of Sharknado 2‘s scenes takes place at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets. And as you can see in this clip, the suspense is more gripping than anything the Mets have provided this season.

Hopefully, there’s a bit more to the action at Citi Field. Personally, I’d love to see one of the sharks attempt to eat Bartolo Colon. (Or Colon take on a shark with a baseball bat.) But these scenes were apparently filmed in the winter, judging from how actors were dressed and snow on the ground.

This is the highlight of the 2014 Mets season, right?
