Heading into the All-Star Break, the juice disappeared from our countdown this week. I’m all about some massive homers week after week, but this week’s effort is a little bit disappointing.
Next week, we’re not going to have a weekly countdown (apologies to players who smash long homers this weekend), but we *will* be recapping the longest homers of the first half.
1. George Springer vs Phil Irwin, 442 feet (July 8th)
This #SpringerDinger went way up on the grass berm at Globe Life Park. Normally, homers maybe make it halfway up the berm. Not when Springer is involved!
2. Torii Hunter vs Jeremy Guthrie, 443 feet (July 10th)
Rumors of Torii Hunter’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. Well, maybe not, but he did absolutely destroy this changeup from Jeremy Guthrie.
3. Marcell Ozuna vs Addison Reed, 438 feet (July 8th)
Arizona was one strike away from winning. ONE STRIKE. Then, Marcell Ozuna smashed a tater to dead center field. He gets extra points for the placement, somehow getting it right into the camera well.
4. Yasmani Grandal vs Sergio Romo, 437 feet (July 6th)
I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone hit one into the upper deck in right field at Petco. Yasmani Grandal nearly did that with this blast off of Sergio Romo.
5. Jon Singleton vs Miles Mikolas, 436 feet (July 7th)
Oh my goodness, Jon Singleton. Houston has some pretty great power hitters on their team, don’t they?
