Tim Lincecum no-hits Padres for the second time in his career

We’re now up to three no-hitters during the 2014 season. On Wednesday, Tim Lincecum tossed his second career no-hitter against the San Diego Padres as the Giants won 4-0.

This no-hitter was a little easier for Lincecum than his first one against the Padres, when he threw 148 pitches at Petco Park last season. This time around, Lincecum threw just 113 pitches, striking out six and walking one in the victory.

Lincecum becomes the fourth active player to throw multiple no-hitters, joining Mark Buehrle, Homer Bailey, and Justin Verlander. Lincecum is also the first pitcher since Addie Joss more than 100 years ago to throw two n-hitters against the same team. This is also the third straight year that a member of the Giants has thrown a no hitter, and the fourth for the franchise in six seasons.

Hats off to Lincecum, who just turned 30 this month and now has two World Series championships, two no-hitters, and two Cy Young Awards to his credit over his career. And to think, we all thought he was done in 2012…
